OSIRIS©: Diagnostic and Information System for Mass-Transit Vehicles

The “OSIRIS©” System is the result of a dedicated effort aimed to implement in a single, low-cost, standalone system, all the basic functions of a complete train information system.

The system may collect and handle information from other on-board electronic systems, provides parallel I/O for monitoring and control of on-board plants, and makes available a reliable, fast data bus at the train level and an intelligent and ergonomic user interface to the train operator, allowing an effective and steady control of all vehicle functions, and prompt detection of malfunctions.

Complete diagnostic information is displayed on the display unit, integrated on the train console.  By means of pushbuttons on the unit, the operator may request display of more detailed data, or seek for special actions to be carried out.

All units are hold in rugged containers suited for use in adverse conditions.  Electronic boards, built with SMT technology, possess an impressive resistance to EMI and vibration effects, and the highest care has been devoted to ensure a

proper operation of the system in every condition.

The system has been fully validated on board of the cars of the Boston “Green line” tram vehicles (nr.7 and nr.8) and of MARTA (Atlanta) CQ series metro cars (CQ 310, 311 and 312).
